Just a quickie to say that is amazing. My blog can now be viewed on any internet capable mobile cell phone. I can also admin my site easily on the said same phones, without a client application being required. Posted from my phone. Update, 2013Enabling my blog with Wapple.net made mobile users much happier in 2009. Wapple provided a service combined with a WordPress plugin to mobile-optimise sites. I have since discontinued my relationship with Wapple.
I’ve been looking for ages for a way of getting WordPress to work with Adobe’s flash technology, to create a more powerful and dynamic site. To this end I recently discovered htmlwrapper from Motion & Color. This unique project takes xhtml and renders it using the flash runtime. The advantage of this is that the whole world of flash is then open to the site owner allowing much more dynamic experiences.
This is a followup to my article on SVG. I was contacted in the comments of my SVG article by Brad Neuberg who suggested that I utilise SVGWeb to display my SVG files in IE. Well, I downloaded and started using it, but it appears that there is a slight bug in the handling of text-anchor:end in the Flash-based renderer. When using SVG Fonts, I guess this is a non-issue, but I’m using built-in fonts, which aren’t able to be rotated without a hack to the SVGWeb Source.
I’ve just put in place a new translation widget that seems better than all others by virtue of the fact that it translates the text of my site in-situ. This means that users aren’t forwarded to another server and placed in a framed view of my site, but instead stay viewing the same page without redirections. Basically that allows users to carry on viewing my site without clicking back and forward buttons all the time.
POSIXUnder unix-like systems, the kill command along with killall are used regularly to stop a process and tell it to close down. Under these systems you can use kill and killall to send “signals” to any running process that you have permission to access (usually those which you run under your own login ID). A signal is like an interrupt to the cpu only for processes. There are many types of signal defined by POSIX, but the two common ones used with kill and killall are SIGHUP (hangup), and SIGKILL (terminate immediately).
I’ve been fiddling with my site design some more recently, and decided that I wanted a vertical banner on the left-hand side to advertise IND-Web.com’s Free Blogs and Hosting services. I figures that I’d only be able to manage this with an image, and set about creating said image in a drawing application. I then found that the image I had created didn’t scale nicely nor did it fit on pages of arbitrary height without leaving a big gap of non-clickable background colour or, worse, distorting the image so that the text was illegible.
