When it comes to day-to-day computing Lucy likes to use many operating systems depending on his mood and what they currently have installed. Usually Lucy will just go with whatever is currently running on his desktop computer and run with that. However, this often leaves him feeling somewhat constrained by whichever operating system was active when they last left the machine and let it go into low-power mode as they try to maintain state between computing sessions – so that they can pick up on things they left days before.
As a keen HTPC enthusiast based in the UK, I can only concur that some kind of official app for TVCatchup.com on Boxee’s platform would be awesome. However, if things turn out that the two parties unfortunately can’t get along in some way then I will probably have to jump-ship to Kodi (formally XBMC) which seems to have more mature mythTV capabilities in the bargain. The downside to jumping ship is that XBMC does not have the richness of different sources of online streams that Boxee has as far as I am aware.
Microsoft has un-officially announced a date for the “Release Candidate” version of Windows 7. Apparently the behemoth slipped when uploading new content to their partner program website which revealed the date. Microsoft has since amended the site to remove any mention of the release date. The Register reported, last month, that someone at Microsoft made another, similar, gaff which revealed May as the time to expect the RC. The leak also contained the expected system requirements, information that the expiry date is June 2010 one year after the download ceases to be available and that there is apparently no limit on the number of RC product keys available.
As a followup to my post about getting BlogJet working under Crossover Mac (formally Crossover Office), I thought I’d post my thoughts on Windows Live Writer. A good friend of mine has informed me that he thinks Windows Live Writer is the “ultimate” blogging client. It supports many of the same features as BlogJet, which happens to be share-ware meaning you ultimately have to part with some money, but WLW is free-ware direct from the Microsoft stable.
This project is no longer actively developed. Older relases are still linked to for archival purposes. I’ve noticed in the latest release of wordbook, that the author has put in place a simple check to determine whether the facebook “class” has already been loaded. This is all very well and good, but there is no sure way to determine that wordbook will be the last plugin loaded by WordPress that utilises the facebook api.
I’ve been spamming everyone the past few days with the link to this video, so I figured I’d pop it here so it’s someplace where I won’t lose it. It’s a video created by the animator behind Weebl and Bob, and features a new song by a guy called Savlonic (I hope I spelled that right – it’s in the video). https://www.youtube.com/embed/9qY2MOe8j2M
